“[Shani Rose’s] voice crackles –like the delicate fizz of champagne being poured into a glass.” This uniqueness is something the Los Angeles pop/rock songstress calls “Soulful Crunch.”
Shani Rose has taken this “Soulful Crunch” and become her own breed of songwriter---with influences from Adele, Sara Bareilles, Regina Spektor, and Norah Jones --she could almost be considered an Adorah Barektor. Shani was first inspired by these musical ladies (among many other artists) when she was studying jazz piano, songwriting, and composing at USC’s Thornton School of Music. So inspired, in fact, that in 2009 she decided to record an EP all by herself and embark on a independent tour with fellow singer/songwriter Amanda Holmes. This self-recorded and self-produced EP, “Warm Rain”, was the humble start of Shani’s growth as a genuine songwriter and artist; she learned just how much work it takes share her songs with the world. Share she did—and hasn’t stopped sharing since. Her ability to combine relatable, heartfelt lyrics and catchy, unique melodies captivated her audiences and helped turn these listeners into the beginnings of a growing fan base.
After graduating from USC’s Thornton School of Music and receiving a Masters in Music Education, Shani went on to audition and become accepted as a featured artist at the world famous Universal Citywalk in Hollywood. She has had the honor of headlining the 5 Towers main stage at Universal Citywalk, where she released her debut studio album “Merry Go Round” in early 2013.
After 3 West Coast tours, gracing stages at Sundance Film Festival, SXSW, and abroad, Shani ended up achieving notable success for her songwriting, reaching the semifinals and finals in prestigious contests such as the Newsong Mountainstage Contest and Unsigned Only Songwriting Competition.
Shani will be releasing her new EP in Spring 2017.
